Both books have dust jackets w/ light rubbing, but in near fine condition. Binding is tight and it feels like the books have never been read. Pages are all spotless and unmarked. Books and their jackets are in near fine condition. My Secret Life, by "Walter", is the memoir of a Victorian gentleman's sexual development and experiences. It was first published in a private edition of eleven volumes, which appeared over seven years beginning around 1888. The work itself is enormous, amounting to over one million words, the eleven original volumes amounting to over 4,000 pages. The text is repetitive and highly disorganised, but its frank discussion of sexual matters and other hidden aspects of Victorian life make it a rare and valuable social document. It has been described as "one of the strangest and most obsessive books ever written." - from the Wikipedia entry Because of the weight of this set, additional shipping charges will apply. Store Description

I, the Andalusia Bookman, have a stock of over 100,000 covering a wide range of items specializing in 19th and 18th c. illustrated books, chromolithos, Philadelphiana, rare anthropology, early hermeneutics, Natural history, first editions and signed items, Beat lit, '60's material, unusual occult, erotica and esoterica. This is my personal collection from which I am de-accessing most everything, including a vast amount of ephemera, art work (steel engravings, pouchoir, collotype), movie posters (of the 1940's - 50's) and a mass of important 19th c. bound periodicals (Oology to Archeology, Mathematics, Botany, Knitting), and 20th c. Art journals, Italian Fascist publications, etc., culled from Walter J. Johnson's liquidation, as well as a collection rare jazz records, including 100's of Boogie Woogie and BeBop '78s, And much more, just ask. I was previously established as The Book Merchants, the Philadelphia's Riverside Book Fair and 30th Street Station Book Fair. In 1991 I purchased the stock of Samuel Kleinman's legendary Schuylkill Book and Curio Shop of 4207 Lancaster Ave., Phila. PA.
