FIRST EDITION. New York: J. & J. Harper, 1829. 12mo., 2 vol., 214 p & 177 p. Good. Marbled paper over leather boards, which are chipping at extremities with loss to head and tail of spines. Nice leather labels to both spine w/ volume number and title. Corners are rounded and slightly chewed to first volume. Loss to joints weakening them. Pages of both volumes are foxed w/ some smudging, otherwise clean and unmarked. This roman à clef novel, originally published in 1800 as School for Fashion, was the work of noted English musician and singer, Anne Ford, who later became Mrs. Philip Thicknesse. Very SCARCE. Art journals, Italian Fascist publications, etc., culled from Walter J. Johnson's liquidation, as well as a collection rare jazz records, including 100's of Boogie Woogie and BeBop '78s, And much more, just ask. I was previously established as The Book Merchants, the Philadelphia's Riverside Book Fair and 30th Street Station Book Fair. In 1991 I purchased the stock of Samuel Kleinman's legendary Schuylkill Book and Curio Shop of 4207 Lancaster Ave., Phila. PA.
