FIRST EDITION. New York: J. & J. Harper, 1829. 12mo., 2 vol., 214 p & 177 p. Good. Marbled paper over leather boards, which are chipping at extremities with loss to head and tail of spines. Nice leather labels to both spine w/ volume number and title. Corners are rounded and slightly chewed to first volume. Loss to joints weakening them. Pages of both volumes are foxed w/ some smudging, otherwise clean and unmarked. This roman à clef novel, originally published in 1800 as School for Fashion, was the work of noted English musician and singer, Anne Ford, who later became Mrs. Philip Thicknesse. Very SCARCE. This is my personal collection from which I am de-accessing most everything, including a vast amount of ephemera, art work (steel engravings, pouchoir, collotype), movie posters (of the 1940's - 50's) and a mass of important 19th c. bound periodicals (Oology to Archeology, Mathematics, Botany, Knitting), and 20th c. Art journals, Italian Fascist publications, etc., culled from Walter J. Johnson's liquidation, as well as a collection rare jazz records, including 100's of Boogie Woogie and BeBop '78s, And much more, just ask.
