About this Item
"This 5.125 x 8.125 inch, 231 page hardcover book is the 1905 first edition of this title by Charles Scribner's Sons as stated with that date on the title page matching the copyright date and with the notation "Published September, 1905" on the copyright page. This copy is in very good condition, but lacks any dust wrapper. This copy shows definite wear to the corners and spine extremities and some bit of nicking along the cover edges. The green cloth covers with embossed design and gilt lettering on front panel and spine all are in very good condition, with the binding still tight. The interior shows a previous owner's inked name on the ffep but beyond that there are no further markings or damaged to be seen throughout the text pages. The book features 24 full page black-and-white by Arthur Heming. This book features chapters on eleven creatures each with its own name - - such as Raj Bheh, the king tiger - - Unt, the camel - - and Big Tusk, the wild boar - - and each chapter gives the animals and their own perspectives and their own words on life. In the introduction, we find this statement - - "All his life Sa'-Zada, the Keeper, had lived with animals. That was why he could talk to them, and they to him" - - as the book presents each animal in their own words and life. The animals featured are African, mid-Eastern, and even the American bison and wolf. An interesting book. 231 pages.". Seller Inventory # 1505-1038
