About this Item
Hardcover. With the excellent dust-jacket, slightly chipped in a couple of places. A nice copy of the 1968 re-issue of the 1936 original edition. " Surrealism is not a rational, dogmatic, and consequently static theory of art. it is a point of view and, as such, applies to painting, literature, play, behaviour, politics, architecture, photography and cinema", - Julien Levy (1936). A very informative general survey of the Surrealist movement across the arts in in the period between the two world wars. The author arranged the first exhibitions in America for such leading exponents as Salvador Dali, Max Ernst, and Yves Tanguy. Seller Inventory # 17882
