[2],viii,48,[4]pp. Original printed wrappers bound into modern cloth, blank paper label affixed to front cover. Later ownership inscription on front free endpaper, modern bookplate on rear pastedown. Wrappers tanned, ink ownership name on front wrapper. Very good. A condensed version of the scarce London edition issued a year after the first American edition printed in Cincinnati under a slightly different title. "Spurious biography, not authorized by Crockett; attributed to James S. French" - Howes. Interesting for demonstrating how widely the Crockett legend had been spread even before his death.
