Bibliographic Details

Publisher: Tucson, Arizona: Diocese of Tuscon Arizona (1978)

Publication Date: 1978

Binding: Hardcover

Book Condition: Fine

Dust Jacket Condition: No Jacket

Edition: 1st Edition

Green Cloth. Fine/No Jacket. First Edition. Octavo, 144pp. This volume was intended as the companion volume to a 1966 reprint of selections from Bishop John Salpointe's important history of the Church in the Southwest, "Soldiers Of The Cross." Publication of the volume here offered coincided with the silver jubilee of Bishop Francis J. Green. In addition to the introductory essay by Rev. Polzer on the early years of Spanish settlement of Arizona, there is an essay by Rev. Kieran McCarty called "The Diocesan Story 1691-1860." Biographies follow on Most Revs. Peter Bourgade, Henry R. Granjon, Daniel J. Gercke and Francis J. Green. Illustrations include drawn portraits, vintage photos, and modern views of the diocese. A handsome little book, and unaccountably scarce.
