Translation by Maxey of works by French poet Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian (1755 - 1794), including Ruth (Paris, 1784) and Tobit. The two moral tales are 'The Spanish Courser' and 'The French Pullet'; also includes a Life of M. de Florian and a Hymn to Friendship. Small 8vo, engraved frontispiece, [4], 122pp, 2 engraved plates. Printed by C. Whittingham, Dean Street. Fine copy in the original pink paper covers with chipped paper title label at spine. Boards a bit marked, some chips on spine, but still very good.
