About this Item
The Robins by Mary Macleod. Illustrated by Harry Rountree. Published by Wells, Gardner, Darton and Co. No date is given but presumed early 1900's. A hardcover book bound in brown cloth, the tiles and image are in a darker brown, blue and orange. It measures 5 x 7 inches and is 136 pages long. The story is adapted from Mrs Trimmer's "History of the Robins" and concerns the adventures that befall a pair of robins as they raise their brood. The text is illustrated with three full page coloured images and each chapter is headed by a beautifully executed black and white drawing. The book is in Very Good condition. The binding is tight and the cover only a little worn. There is a mark that covers the entire back board however, that is probably caused by water. The text is clean but occasionally foxed, this being most evident at the front of the book, though random spots pop up throughout. The end papers are darkened. The first page, that is the one opposite the title page has been affected by water at the base. This does not affect the image itself however. Two pages within the text block have been folded at the top and this has caused the tops of those pages, and the two adjacen,t to become darkened. Seller Inventory # 000244
