Rob of The Bowl, A Romance of the Days of Charles II, Complete in Three Volumes, J.P. Kennedy, Richard Bentley, London, 1839, half leather, 7.75 x 5 , 12mo. In fair condition. Ex-library of the Morristown, NJ library. All library related markings are vintage and date to the 20 s and 30 s. Light wear to extremities with irregularly toning and dryness to edges and tips. Marbled boards are scuffed, worn and slightly faded. Spines dried slightly with rubbing to top end bands. Offsetting from library plates onto fly leaves. Interiors lightly toned with minor instances of foxing. Volume one has tears to the margins pages 31-45. Inner hinges tender. Free of known markings. A few instances of finger-soiling. Bindings intact. Please see photos. A scarce novel by John P. Kennedy (1795-1870) an American novelist, lawyer and Whig politician who served as United States Secretary of the Navy from July 16th, 1852 to March 4th, 1853, during the administration of Millard Fillmore.
