A very good copy in decorated beige wraps; Text in Portuguese. Signed in Oakland, California and dated by the author in the year of publication on the half title page. Some wear covers and creasing to bottom corner tips. A scarce book, especially if signed by the author. 1st edition; Arthur V. Avila was born on the Ilha do Pico, Azores, in 1888 and came to California in 1909. In the early 1930s he started the radio program "Castelos Românticos" and other Portuguese Programs. He became one of the two most popular Portuguese radio personalities in the Bay Area where he also founded the newspaper "O Portugal and was with Celeste Dantos, the organizer of the Latin American Broadcasting Company. He is hailed as an early California Radio Pioneer, Newspaper publisher and editor, and was an important presence in Portuguese religious, civic, and social organizations. Arthur Avila also found time to write poetry. This book was published in 1961, shortly before his death in 1962. 8vo., 166 pages plus index and pasted in errata slip. 0.0 0.0 0.0. Priority Mail (if requested) is $6.00 for a Flat Rate Envelope or $14.95 for a medium
