"This 6.5 x 9.25, xxvii, 316 page book is another of the enduring and valuable titles from the University of Oklahoma Press. This is a first edition of the title as stated on the copywriter page and born out by the mis-spelling of the name "Bourne" on the dedication page, which indicates that this is one of 500 copies of the first printing. (See pix) This copy is in near fine condition with virtually no wear or time damage to the blue cloth boards. The edges and corners of the boards are sharp and virtually free of wear. The text itself features end-paper maps and, with only one exception, there is virtually no wear or damage to the text pages. The first six pages of the book, including the ffep, show a bending at some point in the past and the pages are still somewhat crinkled. The dust jacket is described as very good although it does show several condition issues. There is a one-inch tear in the top of the front panel that was sealed with tape at some point in the past, and another inch tear along the spine foot. Someone has applied a Christmas decal featuring a red poinsettia on the inside front dust panel, very possibly to blot out the price of the book when it was presented as a gift to someone. 316 pages.".
