Later edition. Small quarto. 481pp. Illustrated with with 24 of 25 engraved plates, lacking the frontispiece. Binding amateurly rebacked with new endleaves. Possibly contemporary blindstamp of a Norfolk, Virginia stationery store on the front blank (poor impression of the name makes it difficult to read) and penciled owner signature ("Miss Lizzie Farant, February 14 1859") on front blank. Binding rubbed and with heavy edgewear, upper hinge with a tissue mend and lower hinge starting but sound, first couple of leaves with marginal soiling and chipping, plates foxed (one with some marginal dampstaining at the corners not affecting the image), sound but good only.
