A Fine tight copy in illustrated red cloth boards without dust jacket as issued. Mylar jacket supplied. Raymond Duncan (1874-1966) was the brother of dancer Isadora Duncan and an eccentric inhabitant of Paris during the great expatriate movement of the 1920s. He dressed in classical Greek attire with long hair and leather sandals, both at home and abroad. In 1911 Duncan and his wife Penelope founded the Akademia school in Paris which offered free courses in their specialty areas of dance, arts, and crafts; they later opened a similar school in London. In addition to his artistic and creative pursuits, Duncan found time to write poetry and plays, newspapers, and editorials expounding his philosophy of "actionalism."
