Oblong folio, 138 pages; VG; newly rebound in 1/4 brown leather, paneled spine with burgundy label and gilt lettering. brown cloth boards; mild wear to edges of title page, first few leaves, last few leaves; 16 1/2 x 11 inches; lacking 10 plates, numbers: 8, 12, 57, 70, 75, 80, 104, 107, 109, 129; JB consignment; shelved above mythology. This oblong folio consists of 138 engravings by Pietro Santi Bartoli and Giacomo Lauro, illustrating the palazzi, churches, monuments, arenas, statues, and public scenes of Rome in the 17th century, with explanatory text. Originally engraved by Lauro for a 1637 publication, the plates were adapted by Santi Bartoli, who added 16 more to make up this set. [Smithsonian]. 1302904. Shelved Dupont Bookstore.
