About this Item
np, profusely illustrated in b&w. Designed by John Van Hamersveld. In a protective clear acetate dustwrapper. "Real Estate as Art" is an informative volume that documents the earliest transformation of then-languishing mid-eighties Venice, California into the West Coast's ground zero for new and experimental architecture. Spurred by developers Tom Sewell and Roger Webster, architects and artists Frank Gehry, Robert Graham, Robert Mangurian and Craig Hodgetts, Carl Day, Frederick Fisher, Milica Dedijer, Michael Lipson, Guy Dill, David Ming-Li Lowe, and Morphosis' Thom Mayne and Michael Rotondi created many of their earliest, and most iconic projects in this hothouse environment. The book is creatively designed by John Van Hamersveld, and illustrated with scores of photographs by artist Daniel Joseph Martinez. A brand new, most handsome example of the exceedingly uncommon 1987 paperbound-only first edition limited to one thousand unnumbered copies. Seller Inventory # 026147
