Creasing to spine leather. Joints rubbed. 1/2" chips to leather at head of joints. Corners rubbed with small loss. On the title page, a couple of 1/2" pieces from the imprint and date have adhered to the facing front free endpaper. Provenance: Contemporary owner's signature on title page "John F. Aughterson / 1808". Later owner's signature on front endpaper: "J. M. Begg". ; Twenty-Fourth Edition. [4] xv, [5] 381 pages + [3] pages advertisements. Contemporary tree calf. Red lettering piece and gilt rule on spine. Page dimensions: 169 x 103mm. Page edges sprinkled in red. "Speak death to my sins, thay my soul may live, and for ever bless thy name. Stop and heal the running sores, that they may no more break out, as they have done, to the dishonour of the name, the wounding of my consciene, and hindering the concerns of my own and others present peace [. . .]" - p. 225.
