25 hand colored copper engravings identified as "Prag bey F. G. Wolf [aka Franti?ek Karel Wolf / Franz Karl Wolf, 1764-1836. Wolf was best known for his 1803-1809 series, Abbildungen sämmtlicher alten und neuen Schlösser in Böhmen, depicting Czech castles and chateaux, as well as contributions of a similar nature in other publications.] This series is believed to have been published circa 1800. The collection comes from the estate of Helen Waldes, whose father Jindrich Waldes founded Des Waldes Museums in Prague during the first half of the 20th century. All 25 illustrations have been professionally mounted with two pieces of tape to their backing boards. The materials used are archival, though to the standards of the early twentieth century. They are laid into a folder titled "Prager Volkstrachten" perhaps in the hand of Jindrich himself. The paper upon which the images are printed shows general age. There are a few scattered spots of foxing, and a couple of the illustrations exhibit moisture stains across their lower third. There are minor flaws associated with the printing/coloring process, as well as age. But, overall, the images remain very clear with good coloring still well intact. This set is being sold as a collection of 25 illustrations. It is believed to be complete, but verification of the exact title and number of plates in this series remains unknown to this cataloguer.
