One of Huxley's more complex and structured books, as alluded to in the title which references counter arguments made in a debate, and in this book. There is a great deal of dialogue, but the people also express divergent views, down to the barmaid who retorts in an argument about divorce and the view that marriage as a sacrament: "Sacrament yourself ! " One can read between the words, though they come from a more genteel age. The copy here needs a facsimile spine label, which, since it is all typographic, could probably be matched to fonts available on computer. Reportedly this title was first printed in an edition of 1,000, and remains collectible on that account. Very good-minus condition (no dust jacket). Seller Inventory # 1972
