6.5" x 4.75". 247pp. Green cloth with beveled edges, gilt lettering and cover device. All edges gilt. Fine, bright condition. A beautifully constructed book. With a neat 1880 ownership signature. With a frontis portrait of the author and many other engraved illustrations. Many of these poems first appeared in Charles Dickens's periodicals Household Words and All the Year Round. Dicken's provided the introduction for this book. Procter worked prominently on behalf of unemployed women and the homeless, and was actively involved with feminist groups and journals. She never married, and some of her poetry has prompted speculation that she was a lesbian. Seller Inventory # 24764
