16 by 10.5 cms. viii+124 pp. with one tissue guarded engraved plate by T. Stothard. (There is no indication that there may have been other plates bound in, though on Copac this edition is listed as being with plates.) signed S.R. on the introduction page. In contemporary dark green leather binding, both boards with a decorative narrow gilt edge border and small corner panels, six panelled spine with gilt stamped floral vase in panels and an original red and gilt spine title, light rubbing to spine extremities, corners bumped. Internally tight and unmarked. Marbled endpapers. One page bears the discrete stamp of a previous owner (c.1840). Overall a very good copy. Apart from his most famous work this contains also, "Ode to Superstition", "The Sailor an Elegy", "Verses on a Tear", Sketch of the Alps at DayBreak", "A Wish", and "An Italian Song". Samuel Rogers, 1763-1855, was an influential poet and central figure in London's literary world. A Nonconformist he made his fortune as a banker, amassed a splendid art collection and supported fellow poets and writers. Of, "The Pleasures of Memory" Byron said, "there is not a single vulgar line in it." A nice copy. Seller Inventory # 14305
