Its object - botanical and geographical exploration of the unknown country between the Tsang-po and Salween rivers. The map was silent; but there were rumours of a great snow range. I was also making a colour film for Raycol British Corporation. We started from Assam early in March, passed safely through the Mishmi Hills, and reached Rima, the first village in Tibet, early in April. Thenceforward we travelled entirely through unexplored country. In May a Mishmi runner bringing up mails and silver from Sadiya was murdered within a day's journey of our camp. After that I had no further communication with the outside world until I reached India at New Year. In June we discovered the great snow-range, or rather the peaks on it over 22,000 feet high. It was not till I had crossed the range in July-August, and reached the Salween, that looking back, I saw the range stretching right across the horizon. Meanwhile the film was finished, and my two companions returned to India. For nearly six months I saw no white man. I discovered a number of unknown flowers, and brought home seeds of over a hundred new and rare plants for English gardens.' Size: 8vo. Seller Inventory # 120491
