Good; Hardcover; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; London; First 2 volumes only of the three volume set. Each bound in quarter leather with marbled paper-covered boards; marbled endpapers. Appears to be the first British edition mentioned in Blanck, BAL 3831. First U.S. edition published in 1823. Volume I, 268 pages, Good only. Backstrip missing first 2" of leather at top of spine. Green labels, gilt design. Chipping along front joint, but hinges strong. Vol 2, 342 pages, Fair. Entire leather backstrip missing. Hinges adequate. Moderate wear at corners of both volumes. Contemporary bookplate on each. Preliminary pages & blank end pages moderately foxed. Internals very clean & bright with only occasional foxing. Packaged with care and shipped in a box.
