Book is embellished with 25 illustrated engravings, includes frontispiece engraving by Welch and Walter of John Bunyan, from an authentic 1682 portrait. Engravings drawn by H. Mellville, all include original tissue guards. Octavo, 554 Pages. Spine includes 5 raised bands. Beautiful gold inlay along spine and hardcover. Foxing, age discoloration, most especially within front and rear end papers. Hardcover intact, leather chipped and frayed along spine and corners. One tissue guard is creased along center of page. Book includes detached signature card, with "Mr. B. Gage", who may have been previous owner. One of the most significant works in Religious English Literature. A true find!. This is my personal collection from which I am de-accessing most everything, including a vast amount of ephemera, art work (steel engravings, pouchoir, collotype), movie posters (of the 1940's - 50's) and a mass of important 19th c. bound periodicals (Oology to Archeology, Mathematics, Botany, Knitting), and 20th c. Art journals, Italian Fascist publications, etc., culled from Walter J. Johnson's liquidation, as well as a collection rare jazz records, including 100's of Boogie Woogie and BeBop '78s, And much more, just ask.
