Title: Photo of Silent Screen Actress Norma ...
Publication Date: 1920
Binding: No Binding
Book Condition: Very Good
Vintage Hollywood photo of one of the legends of the silent screen. This is a head shot of Miss Talmadge as she looked circa 1920. The female fan who sent away for this photo has signed her name in green ink on back with a date of 1920. There is a bold signature in gray-blue in lower right corner, "Sincerely, Norma Talmadge," which looks quite authentic. But close examination reveals it is probably a facsimile signature. Because she was one of the great leading ladies of the silents, the studios attempted to sell her to the public when the talkies hit big, but her voice just didn't cooperate. She died in 1957. This photo was distributed by Lumiere photography studio of New York, which has signed in black at the bottom of the plate. Photo slightly tinted in flesh color, and it is still bright and compelling. Slight, short crease mark at lower left, not affecting image. Printed on good heavy paper. Bookseller Inventory # 841
