Rare vintage photoplay edition of Gaston Leroux's of "The Phantom of the Opera." The only date in the book is a copyright date of 1911, but this is a later edition which was released around the same time as the 1925 film. The book is overall in good/fair condition with signs of wear and age. It does not have its original dust jacket; it instead comes in a lesser quality reproduction dust jacket which has a protective Brodart wrapper. The book is illustrated with 4 plates of scenes from the 1925 Universal movie starring Lon Chaney and 1 (of 2) double page color plates. It lacks the other double page color plate called for. The front fep is no longer present and the frontispiece was previously loose and has since been reaffixed. The covers have some mild soiling and wear. There is cracking to the interior hinges with some evidence of repair and the cloth at the joints feels a little stiffer than the rest of the cloth. The binding still seems to be good and sound. There is the remainder of a tiny label to the backside of the frontispiece illustration. The interior is toned from age with some occasional minor marginal dampstaining. Along with that very occasional page with a light bit of foxing, grubbiness, or some kind of minor imperfection, such as a creased page corner, minor interior crack, minor chip or tear, etc. The book measures approximately 7 1/2 inches by 5 1/4 inches and is 357 pages long.
