About this Item
The author wrote about the life of people of the island Hemsö in the Stockholm archipelago. Hemsö is a fictional island, but it is based on Kymmendö where Strindberg had spent time in his youth. Strindberg wrote the book to combat his homesickness while living abroad in Germany and France. Translated from the Swedish by Elspeth Harley Schubert. This is a 1st edition hardback with its dustjacket, in near to fine condition-with the previous owners signature on 'front end-paper' & the dustjackets spine is a little browning / there are 4 very small rips & 2 very small chips to the 'D.Js' corners. (220 pages). Originally published in 1887. Seller Inventory # 347
