Cream-colored patterned cloth covered boards with graphic-designed title in three colors, illustrated with full-color flower plate and with-text flowers, 7 inches tall; 30 unnumbered pages with 11 plates and frontispiece of Whittier. Printed on light cardstock. The bindings are tight and square. Text clean, light even toning. Moderate shelf handling wear. Some hand-soiling to the boards. Christmas gift inscription with the date of 1901. John Greenleaf Whittier was an American Quaker poet and advocate of the abolition of slavery in the United States. Frequently listed as one of the fireside poets, he was influenced by the Scottish poet Robert Burns. Whittier is remembered particularly for his anti-slavery writings. Seller Inventory # 17208
