Title: Passage to Mutiny.

Publisher: Putnam, New York

Publication Date: 1976

Edition: First Printing of the First US Edition

A Fine copy in a Near Fine, lightly rubbed but unclipped dust jacket. Previous owner name on flyleaf. Richard Bolitho once again finds himself sent far from familiar seas. This time, he - in command of the frigate Tempest - is sent to the Great South Sea to protect English shipping lanes. Although fears of mutiny dog his heels - not from any outward problem among his own men, but because the crew of the Bounty recently overthrew their captain, Bligh, in these same waters - Bolitho's greater concern is the pirate, Tuke, who menaces the region with bloody cruelty. There are sea battles a-plenty here, as well as a heroic journey in a small boat, torture among the natives, fever and more. Bookseller Inventory # 24174

Synopsis: Pirates and savage South Sea Islanders are nothing compared to the greatest of all threats.

October 1789, New South Wales: Into Sydney, capital of Britain's infant colony, sails the frigate Tempest. She is one of His Majesty's ships employed in policing the new southern trade routes. Her captain is Richard Bolitho, who hopes to be ordered home to England. Instead he is despatched on a mission to the islands of the Great South Sea, where he must face hazards of fickle winds, pirates and savage islanders. But he is menaced by deeper fears; the men of the Bounty have mutinied in these same waters; and from distant Europe comes news of a revolution in France?
