Book Description McClelland and Steward, (1966)., Toronto:, 1966. Book Condition: Very Good. First edition. The fourth book of poetry from the eclectic Canadian singer, songwriter, poet and novelist. Includes the basis for his most memorable song, "Suzanne" -- "Suzanne Takes You Down" (p.70). The song was covered by Judy Collin's the same year and Cohen himself performed it as his debut single for his 1967 album "Songs of Leonard Cohen." Inspired by Cohen's platonic relationship with Suzanne Verdal, the then-girlfriend of sculptor Armand Vaillancourt, the poem describes the rituals they enjoyed when they met. Lyrics to a few other songs from the debut album also appear [Wiki]. Spine ends a little pushed, tiny spot to rear board, otherwise bright and fine in dust jacket with head of spine lightly rubbed and small tear and crease to top edge front panel; spine sunned from purple to pink as usually seen, otherwise very good to near fine.
