About this Item
A collection of adult notes on Alice in Wonderland, supposedly by Lewis Carroll (C.L.D.), written as a joke by Morris L. Ernst, the noted American lawyer famously associated with the protection of free speech. Privately printed at the Peter Pauper Press possibly as a Christmas present for his friends. This copy, very good in original binding and wraps, has, loosely inserted, a compliments slip from the solicitor Jeffery Maunsell to the author Donald Thomas whose biography of Lewis Carroll was published by John Murray in 1996. Donald Thomas had previously published a mystery novel involving Lewis Carroll in Oxford. Trivial adhesion damage to base of hinge of front endpapers. Uncommon with 1 copy, only, cited in the online COPAC. Seller Inventory # 001596
