Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Limited Edition. Edition Cercle d Art, Paris, 1961. Text by Luis Miguel Dominguín with an essay by Georges Boudaille. This is copy number 76 of only 150 examples issued in the Deluxe edition. The complete Deluxe set comprises the illustrated book together with a portfolio containing an original black and white lithograph, signed in pencil by Picasso, along with a suite of sixteen color lithographs reproduced on Arches wove. The book is bound in a pictorial cloth hardcover featuring Picasso s handwritten title and drawing reproduced in facsimile. It is richly illustrated with lithographic reproductions both in black and white and in vibrant color of drawings executed in pencil, ink, crayon, and wash. These works derive from Picasso s 1959 sketchbooks, which document his lifelong fascination with bullfighting. The printing is exceptionally vivid, executed on thick wove paper. The accompanying suite is presented in the original Bordeaux pictorial cloth portfolio, its front and back boards adorned with two drawings reproduced on paper and mounted to the covers. It contains the original lithograph on Arches wove, dated 7.2.61 in the plate and signed in pencil, together with the suite of sixteen color lithographs on Arches wove. Both the book and the portfolio carry the matching edition number 76 and are presented in the original beige cloth-covered clamshell box, exactly as issued. Ref: Cramer 112. Signed by Illustrator(s).
