"Thomas Barlow (1607-1691), Bishop of Lincoln. At Oxford he became Librarian of the Bodleian (1642), Provost of Queen's (1657), and Lady Margaret Professor of Divinity (1660). Theologically he was a definite Calvinist, but, by persistent trimming, he kept his offices through the many changes of the century. His violent anti-Papalism found full scope in the Popish Plot, but, on the accession of James II, he professed his loyal affection.
