About this Item
NO.29 OF A LIMITED EDITION OF 30 COPIES ONLY. 8vo. 30 pp. 7 illustrations in the text including one striking portrait of a woman, very possibly Rainer Maria Rilke. "The extremely limited edition of verse was printed in Oelde Westphalia as an 'occupational' diversion, No particular merit or gravity is attached to these early exercises in verse making. Many were published under the gentle patronage of Victor B. Neuburg in the Sunday Referee, to whom a debt is gratefully acknowledged. The illustrations are by Rupprecht Wirth also a Hauptmann der Artillerie, who left a wealth of exquiste illustrations behind when he fell in Russia. His work is worthy of a more permanent memorial".
