Old hand-coloured postcard - 1905 or earlier. - Hand-Coloured image of the Dare sisters, Phyllis and Zena, who were both Edwardian Actresses at the end of the nineteenth century, and well in to the 20th century. On the reverse of the postcard, it is addressed to: 'Miss Mary Blomfield' 45 St. Thomas Road, West Hill, Hastings. - Research into the name 'Blomfield' of Hastings: The Blomfield Family - The name of Blomfield was attached to a photography business in Hastings for over sixty years. William Knibb Blomfield and his younger brother John Henry Blomfield acquired the studio of Ayles & Bonniwell in Hastings in 1867. John Henry Blomfied was still in charge of the photography business in 1928, at the age of seventy-eight. - Barbara 'Mary' Blomfield, was born in Hastings in 1848 [birth registered in Hastings during the June Quarter of 1848]. - Postage cost is a green half penny stamp with King Edward VII on it. HASTINGS - 12.15PM. FE 10 05 - [ASSUMED AS: FEBRUARY 10TH 1905] - Postcard is in a pretty good condition. Few small creases with light soiling, also browned mainly to the rear, otherwise a great condition.
