Blue cloth with gilt spine and front cover titles; frontis map; xi, 514 pp; illustrations from photographs. This appears to be a 1970 reprint of the original 1938 edition. Presentation copy signed by Ruth, the proprietor of the House of Wickersham in Juneau, Alaska, 1971.This is the classic history of Alaska and the Yukon up to around 1932 by Judge James Wickersham, who was US District Judge in Alaska (1900-1908), delegate to Congress from Alaska (14 years), editor of "Alaska Law Reports" (7 vols), and author of "A Bibliography of Alaskan Literature." Profusely illustrated. Map of Alaska serves as the frontispiece. Glue line shows in the gutter between the second and third front free endpapers; o/w in VG+ to Near Fine condition.
