In good condition, with minor scuffing and rubbing to boards and spine. Small tears and losses to binding along edges of spine. Minor hinge wear around front and back of book. Text block remains bound well with minimal wear. Markings and marginalia towards front of book. Includes a variety of black-and-white plates throughout. Staining to edges and corners of some pages. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce look at eminent and influential men in the years leading up to the Civil War. Includes portraits of William H. Seward, Edward Everett, Henry Ward Beecher, P.T.
