Extremities worn and some foxing but otherwise a good copy. A few early ink notes in margins. Illustrated by 12 engraved copperplates each accompanied by letterpress descriptions. An authoritative account of normal and abnormal labour, puerperal diseases and care of the mother subsequent to delivery well illustrated by twelve copperplates including one of different types of forceps. John Tricker Conquest (1789-1866) from Chatham graduated MD in Edinburgh in 1813 and commenced practice in London the following year. He lectured on midwifery at the medical school of St Bartholomew's Hospital and served as obstetric consultant to a number of other London institutions. The Outline was first published in 1820 and was published in six editions until 1854. This enlarged second edition is scarce; COPAC records only two library copies, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the Wellcome.
