Nonsense Songs by Edward Lear, with Drawings by L. Leslie Brooke, Frederick Warne & Co., Ltd., London, 1934, unpaginated, terracotta pictorial cloth with dust jacket, 9 x 7 , 8vo. In good condition. Scarce dust jacket wrapped in removable Mylar. Light scuffing to surface of paper with loss at bottom right corner. Small hole near hinge top left corner. Lightly toned overall with darkening and modest soiling to spine. Light tears and chipping to end bands of jacket. Unclipped. Cloth remains relatively clean with light scuffing to edges and corners. Pictorial yellow end papers clean, lightly toned at center. Preface leaves detached, but present. Binding shaken, but intact. Front hinge starting. Free of known markings. Light age-related toning throughout. Minimal foxing. Please see photos. Edward Lear (1812-1888) was an English artist, illustrator, musician, author and poet, who is known mostly for his literary nonsense in poetry and prose and especially his limericks, a form he popularized. Brooke (1862-1940) was a popular illustrator in the early 20th century. His prints are quite valuable and books with his illustrations are considered scarce. Seller Inventory # COLI1934ABEK
