In fair condition. Moderate wear to extremities with cracking along hinges and fraying at endbands. Corners rubbed with scuffing and light abrasions over surface of boards. Light soiling overall. Somewhat tired in appearance. Brown end papers free of ownership. Old hand ownership on title. Interior mildly toned with scattered foxing. Pages slightly brittle along edges. Binding intact. Published in 1874, three years after the bloody upheaval of the Paris Commune of the French Revolution, the novel concerns the Revolt in the Vendée and Chouannerie the counter-revolutionary revolts in 1793 during the French Revolution.
