Lacking the folding map. Binding loose. Boards and spine very rubbed and worn. There is a 1 3/4" tear to spine at head of rear joint. Rear hinge broken and loose. Quite heavy foxing to the plates. Fingermarks and foxing to margins of manyleaves. Page edges rubbed with several small 1/4" tears.; Uncommon. 4 pages advertisements + frontispiece + xi, (1), 366 pages + 11 plates. Lacking the folding map. Original blind-stamped cloth boards with gilt title and decoration on spine. Page dimensions: 218 x 136mm. The plates include several of Auckland; a portrait of Te Kauwau, chief of the Nga te Whatua; a portrait of Te Reweti, eldest son of Te Kauwau; and two of Fortified Native Villages.
