Vol I covers Section I (names of streets, squares etc) and part of Section II (up to and including St Martin in the Fields). Hatton (1664-1733) was a London surveyor for a fire insurance company and published this work of 8 Sections in 2 vols in 1708. His other publications were on business subjects covered included arithmetic, book-keeping, trading practices and model business letters. This is the first and very important publication on post-Great Fire London streets, squares, lanes, markets, courts, alleys, rows, rents, yards, inns churches, etc., plus general information.
