Volume I and Volume III only, out of three. 21 x 13 cm. Volume I, i+288 pp. Volume III, 488 pp. No map. Volume l has five of the five copper-plate engravings called for: Encampment at the plantation of I. Slaber, View of the Cape of Good Hope, Male Anhinga, Encapement at Heere-Logement, and Passage of the Elephants-River. Three are folding, and two full page. Plate 1 fold repaired, plate 3 has a piece missing from lower part with partial loss of some titling, but restored; others complete. Vol III has only two of the six plates called for, Large Snouted Boar, and Black Ape. In contempoary calf bindings, with new spine labels. The upper and lower panels of Vol I have been professionally restored. Both volumes bear the bookplate of The Dromore Reading Society 1794. This Georgian library was in Dromore, Co. Down, but it did not survive and the books were sold in the early years of the nineteenth century. Internally bright and clean. Defective copies with local historical interest, and a few attractive plates of the Cape of Good Hope area. Seller Inventory # 16893
