Two volume set. 23 x 14 cm. Octavos. xxiv 640pp, 728pp. Bound in brown leather, gilt spine design, leather spine labels. Marble foredges and endpapers. Originally published in 5 volumes, done in 1825 is the "New and Greatly Improved Edition", done in two volumes in 1837. With 9 plates in volume 1 and 15 plates in volume 2. Illustrations are portraits, fold-out plans and maps. The plate of Rainer noted as being in volume 1 is actually bound in volume 2 opposite page 3 and volume 2 has an addiitonal extra fold-out plate not noted in the illustration list. Fold-outs consist of map of Harbor of Copenhagen in volume 1, illustration of fleet of Trafalgar, chart of Scheldt, plan Harbor of Cadiz in (not noted, opposite page 351), fold-out plan of Algiers, and Plan of Navarin in volume 2. Scattered foxing. Plates in nice condition but some are foxed. Gift inscription. Seller Inventory # 70533
