Small Octavos, Twenty Volumes. In Very Good condition. Bound in half leather and marbled paper boards with gilt decoration and black labels bearing gilt lettering to spines. General wear to head and tails of spines, edges, and corners of boards. Scuffing to spines and boards. Edges of textblocks marbled. With marbled endpapers. Age toning and scattered tearing throughout textblocks. Various plate tissues detached but present or loosening throughout textblocks. Volume 8 lacking portrait and vignette. With 680 plates. Gathering from plate at 214 through page 220 of Volume XIV loosening. Gathering from plate at 118 through page 122 of Volume XVI detahced but present. Gathering from plate at 246 through page 250 of Volume XVI loosening. Light staining to leather on Volume XVIII. Gatherings of plates at page 212 of Volume XX detached but present. Rear gutter of Volume XX split open with spine showing. Shelved above Greek/Roman History. The series was divided into four main sections: Ornithology (14 volumes), Mammalia (13 volumes), Entomology (7 volumes), and Ichthyology (6 volumes).
