A pamphlet reprinting an article from the New York Historical Society Quarterly offering a history of the organization, its successes and failures, and its role in the future of the City. Included is an early illustration of a building in Times Square covered with billboards, an example of horrid urban ugliness; compared to the travesty on that spot today, it looks like Trajan's Column.
