Hard Cover. Condition: Very Good. New Edition. Undated new edition from Ward Lock somewhere between 1880 and 1900, 8vo, 1680pp + ads to front and rear, colour plates, line illustrations; burgundy spine, blind-decorated, with gilt lettering; this thing went through umpteen variants, neutral tone cloth; this example not a bad survivor for something having the shape, weight and consistency of a builder's brick - few splash marks to cloth, bit of dust-spotting to pages, spine more or less sound with good definition; the only downside being that it had been stored for many a long year somewhere perilously close to h2o leaving it with a musty smell that would no doubt vanish after a few months in a hot kitchen; o/w VG Copy Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
