In order to solve the mystery, Pons and Parker travel to Scotland and to a remote area on the coast of Wales. Jaffrey notes: "This book was the climax, if not the best, of the Solar Pons pastiches. Derleth wrote and published the only novel length adventure about Solar Pons. A fine copy bound in black cloth, spine lettering gilt, in near fine pictorial dust jacket lettered and decorated in red and black by Frank Utpatel, spine lettering black, some toning to spine.
