About this Item
This 7.875 x 10.125 inch, 158 page hardcover book with dust wrapper is the 1956 first American publication of this title by Studio Publications and Thomas Y. Crowell. This book copy is in fine condition with virtually no wear showing to the blue-cloth covers. The covers feature gilt title lettering on the spine. This copy shows just the slightest of wear at the corners but beyond that the covers, binding, and inside text pages are in fine condition - - with no markings or damage to be seen. This book features a nice storyline by the author, Gaston Rebuffat who was one of the most accomplished mountaineers of the 1940?s through the 1950?s. His chapters touch on ?the why? of climbing mountains. Some of the challenging summits that provided early mountaineering dedication and the improvement of equipment which led primarily European climbers to begin to fan out around the world in their commitment to climb the worlds highest peaks. This book contains many striking black-and-white photos and a few color pictures. The dust jacket is in very good condition although it does show considerable wear at the edges and folds and shows one three-inch closed tear on the back panel. The jacket is complete but does show numerous small nicks, tears, and creases. 158 pages. Seller Inventory # 1505-1198
