1910 Hardcover. First Edition, Second Printing. States "First Published September 1909" on verso of title page. Original olive green cloth with gilt lettering and black, red, and white pictorial cricketing designs on the front board and spine. Designs are bright and clear with only light rubbing wear and a few small scuffs. Book is now covered in archival wrap to protect the cover art. Gift inscription dated 1911 neatly written on first free endpaper. Twelve tipped-in full-page black and white illustrations by TMR Whitwell, including the frontispiece. Deckled edges with a bit of light foxing to both outer and inside page edges. Book is in very good condition with clean unmarked pages and a strong binding. This book is the first in the 'Mike' series, the story of Mike Jackson, who is "ordinary at everything except cricket, where he is a natural genius". Please see all images.
