Ex library copy. 3 of 4 volumes. Octavo. Plates resting in rust colored clamshells with gold lettering on front covers and spines. Vol. 1 has a metal clasp, vols. 2 & 3 are sealed by rust colored ribbon ties. Important work, being a Linguistic Atlas of Romanian. Each leaf portrays a colored linguistic map. One of the co-authors, Emil Petrovici (1899-1958) was a Romanian linguist, who studied both Romanian and the Slavic languages. His studies included Romanian phonetics, phonology, and Romanian and Slavic dialectology. From 1949 to 1954, Petrovici worked on literary and cultural problems of Transylvania and collaborated on several journals published in Cluj-Napoca. He was honored with membership in several scientific academies and societies, and was honored with various titles such as "Emeritus scientist" and "The State Prize." Text in Romanian. Age wear to clamshells. Vol. 1 has a small closed tear around the metal clasp. Otherwise books are in overall very good condition. Seller Inventory # 20048
